American family band.jpg

The Family Band is centered around the talents of  sister and brother duo Isabel  Humphreys and Evans Humphreys, and their mom, Americana artist Kathryn Caine. This is not your typical family band. Evans is a bass virtuoso and Isabel is an award winning flute player. Isabel and Kathryn are singers in their own right. Each member is as good on their own as with the group. The Family Band believes that the strength lies within the pack, and they are most definitely a pack. The Family Band offers unique arrangements of original and classic songs. Their unmatched harmony is close ,tight, and high and lonesome,  honed to perfection in the sanctuary as this family of singers and musicians learned music in church. With a sweet yet powerful, soulful voice, Isabel sings lead vocal and partners it with her ethereal flute playing. She has recently written the song Backwoods Sound , which will be released on their upcoming full-length CD. In addition to music, she is an award winning visual artist and acts in musical theater. Evans sings harmony and is a virtuoso stand up and electric bass player.  Both Izzy and Evans attend North Carolina State University where Izzy is in the prestigious design program and Evans is a distinguished Goodnight Scholar majoring in Biology.  Mom, Kathryn Caine earned critical acclaim and national success with her original albums Whiteville, Down Home Girl and When I Was His Wife. She has passed down her love for traditional singing and songwriting to Isabel and Evans as they have shared the stage with her since they were born.  The Family Band features Isabel on lead vocals and flute, Evans on stand up and electric bass and vocals, and Kathryn on piano, guitar and vocals. They perform Kathryn’s original songs as well as many traditional covers that bring out the incomparable musical  harmony and their loving and witty family dynamic. The Family Band has opened up for award winning country artists such as Josh Turner, Jamey Johnson, Phil Vassar and Lee Ann Womack .
